Windshield Glass And Window Glass Are Different Kinds Of Glass For Your Safety
The glass that you find on your car's windshield isn't the same kind of glass that you find in your house's windows. There are a couple of different reasons for that.
One reason that the glass in your windshield is different from the glass in the windows of your house is the fact that the glass composition is slightly different. The glass in the windshield will have gone through additional treatments, including some kind of chemical hardening. The reason for that is it will keep the glass from turning into shards if it breaks. Shards would hurt you and could cause a lot more damage. Safety glass won't do that.
Another reason that the windshield glass is different is because it is laminated glass. Laminated glass means that the glass has been layered with an adhesive or resin in between the layers of glass. It's like a peanut butter sandwich: The two pieces of glass are the bread with the resin in between acting as the peanut butter. The resin is placed on one layer of the glass then it is put together with the second layer. Once the glass has been layered up, it is heated, and pressure is applied to it. That heat and pressure can give the windshield its shape. It can also make sure that the resin or adhesive is fully activated and that the two pieces of glass are firmly attached to each other, which will keep them together when they are in your car. Lamination does a lot of things, including making sure that any pieces of the broken windshield stay together. The windshield glass needs to be like this for your safety in case of a crash.
The biggest reason for all of this going on in your windshield is that it is an important part of your car's safety system. It helps to hold the frame straight and keeps the airbags deploying in the right position. This is why you need to make sure that it is one piece. If it gets cracked or damaged, you need to make sure you get it fixed before its integrity is destroyed and it can't do its job anymore.
The glass in your windshield is different to the glass in your house; it needs to be in order for it to do its job to help keep you safe.
